About Mills & Sons Insurance

Mills & Sons Insurance Agency was established in 1869 by T.W. Colins. In 1932, Ray Mills, grandfather of the present owner, purchased the agency. His sons, Harry Mills (1932-1999) & Charles Mills (1934-1978), joined the agency shortly. The agency was incorporated in 1978. Milton Mills (1956-2002), Harry's son, worked for the agency for 20 years, 1977-1997.

In 1979, David Walker joined the agency, bringing with him 15 years insurance experience as both an independent agent and insurance company marketing representative and underwriter. David received his Certified Insurance Counselor designation in 1984. His expertise is in the area of commercial property & casualty insurance.

In 1983, Mitchell Mills, another of Harry Mills' sons, joined the agency following graduation from Drury College in Springfield. Currently, Mitchell is President and sole owner of Mills & Sons, Inc. He oversees both the management and sales force of the agency.

Mills Insurance currently has two divisions:

• Personal Insurance, including life and health
• Business Insurance, including employee benefits

Each division is responsible for marketing and service to prospective and current clients.

A large number of major insurance companies are represented on a direct basis as well as having access to highly regarded specialty insurers. The agency provides brokerage services to consumers in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
